St. Peter’s New-Song Project for Youth and Adult Singers
If you enjoy music - even if you haven’t sung since high school glee club - please join us for this exciting and educational music opportunity.
St. Peter’s by-the-Sea will begin rehearsals for the St. Peter’s New-Song Project on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. The New-Song Project takes it name, indeed its inspiration, from Old Testament Psalm 96: Sing unto the Lord a new song.
This new intergenerational music-education project is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), a world-reknowned program of music and Christian formation founded nearly a century ago at England’s Westminster Cathedral.

“The more you do it, the easier it gets,” 11 year old Dylan Cranston is quoted as saying in a recent article in the Providence Journal (August 9, 2014), describing the RSCM choir-camp that is held every year in Newport on the campus of Salve Regina University.
The New-Song Project at St. Peter’s by-the-Sea (72 Caswell Street, Narragansett, Rhode Island) is open to everyone FREE of charge. In fact, children who join the Youth Choir receive a modest, monthly allowance which increases as their skills grow.

You do not need to be a member of St. Peter’s - nor any particular parish - to join. Anyone with an interest in singing some of the world’s finest sacred music, learning basic music theory, and (for youth choristers) participating in a group piano class is welcome.
Weekly Youth Choir rehearsals begin at 4:00 p.m. and a post-rehearsal dinner will be provided to all choristers and their families. Adult Chorister rehearsals begin at 6:45 p.m. Families are encouraged to join and a study area is available so kids can do their homework while their parents rehearse in the adult choir.
The St. Peter’s New-Song Project is directed by Ms. Cheryl Casola who has more than 20 years of choral and piano instruction experience.
