Stellllaaaa!

    My dog Stella is sort of an enigma, and, for the last 11 1/2 years, since we’ve owned her, has shocked and surprised me with her, feral nature; For, as ‘domesticated’-dogs go...she’s the MOST wild and instinct-driven canine I’ve EVER owned. Our, somewhat, ‘odd’ relationship began, one evening all those years ago, when, she...this female, Staffordshire-Terrier, strolled into my home, uninvited, one cold, March evening, and, ‘long story short’, has been here, ever since. She is, minimally, 13+ years of age, by now, as the vet ‘guesstimated’ her to be between 2-4 at the time we ‘met’. Anyone seeing her today would NEVER believe it, as she wears her age quite well; not to mention the fact, that, she STILL digs dens in which to ‘dwell’ when she’s outdoors, with one, which she has recently, begun ‘remodeling’ being almost 4 feet deep. I’ve not ever seen the likes of anything like this. On evenings, when walking her, if the local pack of coyotes is bawling and baying, she pulls and tugs on her leash in a way that indicates that she’d love to join the pack. I know, without question, that she would be able to ‘hold her own’ in a ‘one on one’ against one of these, her ‘kindred-spirits’, if she had to...she’s THAT tough! Stella is NOT a ‘lap-dog’, she’s BARELY a house-dog, truth be told; as she LOVES it out of doors, and, will cry to be let out, five minutes after shes in; unless, she has a bone to ‘worry’ which she will destroy in ‘no time flat’. She is unlike ANY dog I’ve EVER owned...quite unique, to be sure; and, though, she’s not really a ‘cuddler’ I love her for her ‘specialness’ and faithfulness to me and the family. There’s a reason she walked into OUR home, that night, so long ago, as I know that another family might have found her too, ‘difficult’ to care for; she CAN, indeed, be a ‘handful’. The ‘Universe’, in it’s infinite-wisdom, saw fit to lead her to us, and I’m glad; for, as ‘challenging’ as she has been, throughout the years, she’s been equally as ‘entertaining’, to be sure. Just Sayin’...
