A 'Thirst' For Life!

On the importance of water...

It’s raining...it’s pouring...and it’s ABOUT time, too! We haven’t realized much in the way of the ‘wet-stuff’ in a while and I, along with every other living creature, plant, bug, and insect, am VERY happy to FINALLY have it do so. I don’t know for sure just how much deficit there is in the rain ‘department’ according to the experts; but all one has to do is take a stroll around my grounds to witness the arid-conditions and obvious lack of rain which is evident in the brown and dying grasses and other plant life on and around my property. As we know, water is VITAL to the health and well-being of all living organisms, and without adequate amounts there can be a ‘high price to pay’. Consuming potable H2O is imperative to our survival, no ‘ifs, ands, or buts!’; and, although the ‘jury is still out’ regarding EXACTLY how much water one ideally ought consume over the course of a day, as experts cannot agree, it is essential to drink a good amount. Most ‘in the know’ will suggest between 8-10 8-oz. glasses per day, with others saying more or less. When one is NOT consuming adequate amounts of water one will inevitably know; for subtle-signs of ‘dehydration’ will begin to surface and show themselves, e.g., dry, itchy eyes, headaches, and ‘hunger’-pangs, etc..Frequently when one finds him or herself feeling hungry, it is actually water which he/she is ‘craving’. Drinking colas, sodas, iced-teas, coffees, and lemonades, even when caffeine-free, does NOT constitute drinking ‘water’, even if ‘diet’ in nature. A beverage must be caffeine-free and well as sugar-free and/or sugar-substitute-free in order to be counted as a water-based drink. For those fine folk who subsist on coffee, sodas, and ‘soft-drinks’ all the day through without adding water ‘to the mix’, well...they are NOT doing ‘a body good’; for not even milk constitutes ‘water’ to be counted in the number of glasses one will ideally drink for optimal health. So...as I sit here watching the rain gently fall I am sippin’ on a decaffeinated ‘cup o’ joe’, black w/ no sweetener, AND a glass of water, both that can be added toward my daily total and goal of 8 glasses, knowing that I, as well as the Nature that surrounds me, am keeping healthfully-hydrated. Just Sayin’...
