Town Council To Consider New Library Monday

The councilors are expect to decide whether to buy the former Belmont Supermarket building for a new library.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The agenda at Monday night's Town Council meeting includes a vote important to people supporting the proposed new library. According to the state Secretary of State's office, the councilors will vote whether or not to buy the Belmont Supermarket building as the site. Naomi MacDonald put out the word on Narragansett-South Kingstown Patch's Facebook page.

"We urgently need everyone to attend this Monday nights Town Council Meeting at 7:30 p.m. (June 5th)," she wrote. "The Town Council will be voting on the Library and the Library really needs your support. Please bring your neighbors and friends who also support the library. You will not have to speak, but we just need folks to be there to show how much the new library is supported."

21. A MOTION to APPROVE/ REJECT the purchase of the Belmont Supermarket building and
administrative office space from GP Retail, LLC and 59 parking spaces for $2.4 Million Dollars
to be used as the future site of the Library.
