Town Meetings, Concerts and More

Here's what's going on in your neck of the woods on Tuesday:

1.  The South Kingstown School Committee will meet at 7:00 p.m. Tonight in the High School Library, 215 Columbia St. in Wakefield.  On the agenda there is a report detailing the Notification to RIDE of Possibility of School Consolidation, 2011-2012 School Calendar approval, and Ski and Snowboard field trip approval.

 2. At the Town Hall, the South Kingstown Planning Board will meet at 7:00 p.m. at 180 High Street.  On the agenda is a COMPREHENSIVE PERMIT CONCEPTUAL MASTER PLAN PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING for Fieldstone Farms, a proposed fifty-two (52) lot Flexible Design Residential Project submitted as a Comprehensive Permit Application, as well as public hearings for Rodman Commons, a proposed 20-unit addition to the existing 50-unit La Casa Apartments, 100% affordable (≤ 50% AMI), age-restricted, independent living, Disano Dental, a proposed dental office with waiver for second floor residential use, parking and landscaping, and Kenyon Terrace, a proposed six-unit redevelopment of two existing structures, five single- bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment, HUD Section 811 very low income independent living project.

 3. Today in 1963 John F. Kennedy’s administration bars U.S. citizens from traveling to or engaging in financial or commercial transactions with the nation of Cuba, to this day making Cuban cigars a rare commodity even if they are from a terrible year.

 4.  The South Kingstown Girls Varsity Basketball team faces off against Pilgrim at 7:00 p.m. tonight at the South Kingstown High School. 

 5. Come out and watch as the Broad Rock Middle School Presents its Sapphire Band Winter Concert  at 7:00 p.m.
