Tri-Town, South County Community Action Merger Featured in PBN

Providence Business News published an article on the planned merger of the two nonprofits into one, to be completed by Oct. 1.

Tri-Town and South County Community Action Agency CEO Joseph R. DeSantis recentlyspoke with Providence Business News about the expected merger of the two nonprofits into one agency, with an expected completion date of Oct. 1.

Saying that the merger will make the combined agency “more effective and efficient,” DeSantis also told PBN reporter Pat Daddona that there will be no layoffs as a result of combining Johnston-based Tri-Town Community Action with its $13.5 million budget and Wakefield-based South County Community Action with a budget of $9.5 million, preserving the total staff of 300 between the two agencies.

The new agency will be known as Tri County Community Action Agency, representing its service to Providence, Kent, and Washington Counties.
