Viewfinder: Trick-Or-Treating On Main St.
Downtown Wakefield held an early Halloween celebration.
The Downtown Wakefield Merchants Association held it annual Fall Festival and Halloween Parade on Saturday. There were lots of ghouls and guys along with cowboys, princesses, ghosts, witches and even a cockroach marching in the Parade and enjoying the fun.
The festival kicked off at 4pm with the costume parade taking a route from Sari's Sanctuary at Wakefield Elementary School, over the bridge to Main St., ending up at the judging table in front of . Music and dancing greeted the participants with the band The RPMs playing live on the lawn. Games and a 50 yd. Dash were also on tap.
Stores up and down Main St. and Robinson St. were decked out in fall finery and invited everyone in to trick or treat. Meanwhile a pumpkin carving contest was going on in the hall at the . After dark, people tried their luck in the Haunted Alley at Back Alley Woodworks and then settled in for an enjoyable end to the evening down by the Sauguatucket River watching River Fire.
