The accident is still under investigation.
McCarriston's car appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the back of the other vehicle, which was driving directly in front of it, Moynihan said. Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that neither man was wearing a seatbelt, Moynihan said.
At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, Moynihan said. However, it remains under investigation by the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit as well as the State Police Forensic Unit, he said.
