Updated: Firefighters Respond Twice to Glen Rock Road Fire
The first fire was reported at 4:20 Thursday afternoon, but the department returned to the same house at 3:14 a.m. Friday.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Two people went to the hospital as a precaution after their home caught fire Thursday afternoon. According to Union Fire District Chief Steven Pinch, the fire was initially reported at 4:20 p.m., and Stations 4,8, and 9 reported for the structure fire near 800 Glen Rock Road.
"We were informed by the police that the structure was fully involved," Chief Pinch said. "Given that information the responding duty chief called for a second alarm and the tanker task force."
They stayed at the scene for much of the night.

"Crews battled the fire for approximately 90 minutes before the fire was under control," he said, and they "remained on scene for an additional two hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations."
No firefighters were hurt during the incident, he said.

"We were dispatched back to the scene at 3:14 when the existing frame of the structure rekindled," he said. State and local fire marshals are investigating to determine a cause.
