Volunteer Artists Needed to 'Chalk It Up Against Bullying'
Use your sidewalk chalk skills and take a stand to end bullying by participating in this community arts event!

Volunteer artists ages 5 and up are needed to create chalk art drawings with bullying prevention themes on sidewalks in downtown Wakefield & Westerly as part of Chalk It Up Against Bullying. This fun and engaging community arts event, held simultaneously in two towns, is planned on Saturday, October 18th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. (Rain Dates include: Oct. 19th, Oct. 25th, & Oct. 26th) to raise awareness of the prevalence of bullying and cyberbullying and what we can all do to stop it. Organized by the Washington County Coalition for Children in partnership with local businesses, schools, and social service organizations, Chalk It Up is being held to commemorate National Bullying Prevention Month (October).
Chalk drawings can be fun, entertaining, serious, creative, colorful, futuristic, and/or thought-provoking, but must carry an anti-bullying message, and be appropriate for all ages and audiences. Examples include: standing up when someone needs help, stopping rumors, welcoming new students, including and cooperating with others, eliminating name calling, treating others with respect and dignity, showing compassion, celebrating differences, and promoting acceptance and inclusion in our community, etc.
Chalk will be provided and a free Chalk It Up Against Bullying t-shirt given to all artists. Teen & adult volunteers are also needed (from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm) to help with set up and break down as well as support of artists. Community Service Hour Certificates will be provided.
