The storms are expected to develop in the late morning or early afternoon. During the worst of it, two inches of rain could fall in less than an hour, which almost guarantees street flooding in urban areas and localized flash flooding.
Motorists are reminded to avoid driving through deep water and flooded streets. A typical car can only handle a few inches of standing water before a potentially disastrous situation.
