What's The 'BUZZ'???

Feeling a bit of 'remorse'; but finding no other recourse...

As I attempt to live harmoniously with ALL of the other creatures which ‘share’ my property, I have had a great-deal of difficulty with what I have recently chosen to do with some of this year’s OVERLY populated wasp-population which inhabits the grounds around my home; this being that I have destroyed a couple of hives. At this time of my life, I do not wish to kill ANYTHING; and yet, I do treat my dog and cats for ticks and fleas, and have no difficulty swatting-away at a ‘skeeter’, as all of these ‘pesky’-pests can carry illness. But, bees and wasps are another thing...they hold no ‘imminent’ threat to us humans, insofar as being potential disease-carriers, unless one is allergic, they are not to be feared. NO...they are simply going about their business, doing what God designed them to do; BUT, when one of us humans gets in their ‘path’ they STING and BITE and I’m no longer tolerant of this, as I’ve been stung a few times, already, this year. And, so, for the last several days I have been working toward eliminating a couple of nests. Truth be told, I TRULY feel bad about this, for these little winged-wonders are ONLY doing what comes naturally to them; and yet...simply due to their presence on my property I am prohibited from doing some ‘chores’ around the yard, especially in and around the shed where these ‘bees’ LOVE to nest, for fear of ‘reprisal’. What these wasps DON’T know is that I’m NOT the enemy; however, if and when they feel ‘threatened’ that is what I become and they, instinctively, MUST protect the hive and their Queen. I get that...I really do, but the cost of this instinctual-behavior has cost many of them their own lives; they’re really no match against a can of Wasp-killer with a 20 foot spray capability! I am a ‘stealth-warrior’ honing in on them in the dark of night while they sleep. Actually, I feel more of a ‘coward’ in all honesty; but this is how it must be done to ensure that the majority of the hive’s populace is BACK in their abode and ARE destroyed. I’ve noticed that there are, indeed, a few that come ‘skulking’-back around during daylight hours, perhaps some which had ‘late-night’-duty and escaped the destruction of their ‘workplace’ when I ‘attacked’; and it is for these whom I feel sorriest. They don’t understand what happened to their family-group or to their ‘safe-place’, and now...they have no home. I don’t wish to feel guilt-ridden and yet, I kinda do. DRAT! Why can’t we ALL just get along? Just Sayin’...
