When Will the Blizzard Hit Narragansett, South Kingstown? Hour-by-Hour Forecast

The fourth major snowstorm and second blizzard in three weeks is barreling toward Rhode Island and is expected to dump nearly a foot of snow on parts of the state.

The National Weather Service has called a Blizzard Warning from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday. The NWS also issued a Wind Chill Warning from 4 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday.

The NWS warned that people should get off the roads by late Saturday afternoon.

Narragansett and South Kingstown are expected to get 6 to 10 inches of snow. It’s expected to start on Saturday afternoon and continue into Saturday night. Snow will stop for a time on Saturday night before returning and intensifying late Saturday night and becoming a blizzard early Sunday morning, according to the NWS.

Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph are expected. Wind chills are expected to fall to 25 below zero.

“Travel will become nearly impossible and potentially life-threatening due to white-out conditions and bitterly cold wind chills. Conditions will remain dangerous for travel well into Sunday due to blowing and drifting show. Reduced visibility and dangerously cold wind chills. Power outages can be expected at some locations due to very strong winds,” warned NWS.

This storm may not produce the amount of snow that we’ve seen from other storms in the past three weeks, but this latest storm will likely exasperate snow-related problems.

Saturday

• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- Snow showers
• 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. -- Snow
• 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. -- Light snow

Sunday

• 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. -- Snow showers
• 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- Blizzard
• 1 p.m. -- Thunder/snow/strong winds
• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- Snow showers/strong winds

Snow should end by late afternoon Sunday, but the dangerous wind chills and blowing and drifting snow are expected until Monday morning.
