Woman Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident

The woman suffered critical injuries to her legs after a car struck her in a Tower Hill Road parking lot.

A 78-year-old woman was critically injured in an accident in the parking lot in front of Zero Wampum on Thursday.

South Kingstown police said in a release that the woman was walking in front of the store when a car entering a parking space struck her.

The impact sent the woman through a glass window. She suffered critical injuries to her legs and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

The building is closed and suffered minor structural damage, police said.

Police are reconstructing the accident and believe alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
