The advanced system will support minimally invasive urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgeries, complementing the hospital's existing robotic knee replacement technology and strengthening high-tech care close to home.
   

• $271 million contract awarded to rebuild Pier 1 at Naval Station Newport for Coast Guard cutters (whatsupnewp.com) — A massive $271.2 million federal contract will rebuild Pier 1 at Naval Station Newport, paving the way for four Coast Guard cutters to homeport here and boosting activity along the city's waterfront. Combined with NOAA's new Marine Operations Center-Atlantic at Coddington Cove, the projects are expected to bring hundreds of federal workers, military personnel, and families to Newport and neighboring towns over the next several years.
