Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State to host annual Gala - The Big Night Out, themed The Kentucky Derby, May 2nd in Newport.

Each year, at their annual gala, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State (BBBSOS) honors community leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to sustain the measurable impacts mentoring has on Rhode Island’s youth. This year’s gala will be held on May 2nd at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Goat Island in Newport. The event, themed Kentucky Derby, from 6:00 pm – midnight, will be a night to remember with southern fare and signature cocktails while guests in fabulous Derby hats and bow ties support youth mentoring. Mario Hilario Host of WJAR NBC10’s Weekend Sunrise Show will be Emceeing the Event.
The 2015 honorees are Michael O’Connell, General Manager of Balise Toyota of Warwick who will receive the
Champion of Mentoring Award and the late Rick Fox, Regional Supply Chain Manager for the US East Region for Savers, whose family will accept the Legacy Award on his behalf.
