Ballard Park, Newport's only nature preserve, is located on Wickham Road, directly across from Rogers High School. The 13 acre parcel was donated to the City of Newport by Carol C. Ballard with the idea that it be a space enjoyed by the local public. Its unique features include two 19th century quarries and a diverse variety of native and introduced plant species.
