There will be a free concert and fireworks show this evening on Naval Station Newport’s Dewey Field. The concert will feature the music of Little Big Town with Navy Band Northeast’s Rhode Island Sound starting off the music at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Members of the general public are welcomed to attend as guests of the Commanding Officer and may enter via Naval Station Newport’s Gate One (Training Station Road) beginning at 5 p.m.
Guests are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Do NOT bring coolers, picnic baskets, glass bottles, outside food/drink or pets – they will NOT be allowed onto the field area. Concession tents will offer food and drinks and a Kids Area will be set up to keep the young ones entertained prior to the music. The Naval War College Museum will also be open extended hours so plan a visit to Founders’ Hall (open until 6:30 p.m. Saturday). Guests with DoD decals and official identification may enter via Gate 1 at any time Saturday and via Gate 17 which will be open in support of this event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The fireworks should begin around 9:15 p.m.
