From Tree to Floorboard: Building Colonial Houses

Gain a new appreciation for how tools and technology affect how our homes look and feel.

Tom Paske will share some “nuts and bolts” of old houses, specifically how building materials and technological methods changed during the 18th and into the 19th centuries. He will explain the process from working with raw material to wooden floors, clapboards, roofs, moldings and more.

Mr. Paske, an Architectural Preservation Consultant form Westfield, MA, has an extensive knowledge of old buildings gained through years of field experience, particularly as a restoration contractor. He has co-taught at the Building Archeology Field School at Roger Williams University.
