Tickets are still available for premiere of the charming children’s ballet, Mother Goose at Rosecliff, which will be presented as part of Newport, RI’s contemporary ballet company’s Opening Weekend of its Thirtieth Anniversary, March 2, 3 & 4th. Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen has created a lively retelling of the familiar nursery rhymes using movement, live music and the spectacular rooms of Rosecliff to create an interactive and entertaining performance event for children as young as three. Newport actress and educator Lisa Reimer oversees the action and recites the rhymes as Mother Goose. Naseer Ashraf is the minstrel fiddler, leading audience members from scene to scene throughout the mansion with live music. The children will have opportunities for participation and will be invited to meet the Mother Goose characters after the show.
On Saturday night, an Opening Night celebration will feature works from the IMC’s diverse repertoire, performed at Rosecliff. The performance, on March 3rd at 7pm, will include works from guest choreographers as well as selections from Miki Ohlsen’s Dracula and the Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff.
Tickets to Opening Night of Mother Goose at Rosecliff are $65 and include refreshments. There will be a cash bar at intermission.
