The Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery welcomes New York photographer Lori Nix and her acclaimed series “The City” to Salve Regina. Through the fabrication and documentation of elaborate architectural dioramas, Nix re imagines the city post-civilization. In each of her color prints, she draws us into a visually dynamic dystopia, a painstakingly crafted tabletop model of a familiar yet fictional place transformed by abandonment and decay.
The exhibit will be on display in the gallery through April 18. An opening reception and artist lecture will be held Thursday, March 29, with the reception scheduled for 5-7 p.m. and the lecture scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
