Newport RI: The Series
Newport, Rhode Island known for the America’s Cup, Tall Ships and Music Festivals is about to add one more accolade to its name..Art. Newport R.I. The Series coming in 2012 will bring to life the paintings of local artist William Heydt. Heydt has been producing paintings of the local people of Newport in his series “Newportant People for over twelve years. And recently has brought to his series a Historical Edition that re-creates historic painting with descendants of the historical people in the paintings.
His collection has well over several hundred images and paintings of people and landscapes in Newport. The new series Newport R.I. will take his painting and have fictional scripts written for each of his selected images. In addition, many of his landscapes will be apart of every episode so that the story is fading in and out of Heydt’s paintings. Local musicians are writing original music for each painting and episode.
Story: Newport’s most renowned playboy/artist Richard Davenport was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. Money is no object for Richard Davenport. Richard’s hobby is to watch and paint the people of Newport. Not the visitors, the people that live and make Newport their home. He is about to befriend a local Newport newspapers reporter Tim Sullivan who writes about the people of Newport and these two are going to form a partnership that bring the people of Newport RI and their stories to the world.
Newportant Studios is holding an Open Casting for their television pilot “Newport RI: The Series” on Saturday, February 25th from 1pm – 4pm in Newport, RI at the Edward King House, 35 King Street. Bring a Headshot & Resume. Sides will be provided that day. This is a Union and Non-Union call.
Episode One (Reoccurring Characters)
Tim Sullivan: (45-50) journalist for the Newport “Gazette”. He’s very punctual and hardly ever is sick for work.. Deep down somewhere Tim does loves what he does and the people that are involved with his life.
Martha Sullivan: (45-50) Tim Sullivan wife. A native Newporter in great shape and beautiful.
Matt Cunha: (20-25) A young, ambitious beat writer for the paper.
Frank O’Conner: (55-60) Tim’s boss at the paper. He knows there are people at the paper that could do his job better, but is determined to make it to retirement.
Richard Davenport: “The Artist” (45-50) Early 50’s.. Gallant, charming, handsome, creative, royal suave and mercurial, Richard Davenport hopes to live up to every rumor that is associated with his name. A “Pierce Brosnan James Bondesque” type.
Bradley Spencer: (30-35) Bartender at Clarke Cooke House, one of Richard Davenports favorite hangouts.
Mary Johnson: (45-50) Early 30’s, bubbly receptionist at the newspaper.
Katy Moriarty: (30-35) Photographer for the paper and is one of Tim’s good friends.. She’s a perky woman in her early 30’s..she loves her job and has won awards for her photojournalism for coverage of several very big stories.
Episode One Characters
Note: The Maguire’s are of strong Irish descent
Capt. Edward “Eddie” Maguire: (40-45) Tugs youngest brother. He took his time deciding he wanted to be a fireman. He wasn’t sure he wanted to follow in the family business.
Lt. Steven “Hydrant” Maguire: (30-35) acts like he’s 21…A very loud, boisterous, and funny person. or annoying depending how you look at it.. Has never NOT been the center of attention any where he goes.
Sgt. Daniel “Tin” Maguire: (25-30) acts much older. Middle brother of the family and although he is following in his family’s firefighting footsteps, Tin is the one brother who least wanted to be a fireman.
Capt. Michael “ Mike” Maguire: (45-50) Tugs younger brother. Mike is the quietest and most reserved of Tug’s brothers. He is a Mother Hen type who looks after his family, friends and crew almost to a fault. He choose to no go into the family business of firefighting but still wanted to serve so he has moved up the ranks in the Newport Police Department.
John Hopper: (20-25) A quiet, nice guy fireman who married the lone Maguire girl. He never gets in between the brothers when they fight.. His marriage into the family wasn’t and easy one.
Shawna Maguire: (20-25) Davey’s Wife, Simply put, Shawna Maguire is THE girl you want to marry.. Good looks, not “great”, mostly described as cute and sometimes pretty, but once you begin to know Shawna you would have choice but to think she’s an angel. Davey’s Wife
Lt. Patrick “Sully” O’Sullivan: (30-35) cousin to the brother’s on their mothers side. He is a very large man with nature bulking muscles that he maintains with a strict weightlifting program. Was a All State Offensive Guard in high school.
Janet Flynn: (60-65) Shawna’s Mom , very young at heart Shawna’s mom has a great feel for her daughter and can sense she’s falling back for Tin.
Deputy Chief. James “Tug” Maguire: (50-55) The father of the family… A quite, unmistakable, intimidating presence… James could easily pass for Whitey Bulger if you didn’t know him
Albert King: Older, Late 60’s. Mundane man who loves to work with in his garden.. He’ll talk to anyone about anything for attention.. A good man.
Brian McCarty: (20-25) John Hopper’s friend. (Afro-American)
Jess Valentine: (20-25) Bartender at Irish Bar
Older Local: (45-50) Bystander at Fire
