project mural public meeting

The group behind “Project Mural” will be holding a community meeting to discuss the wall mural

proposed for the 200 ft. southern wall of Hunter Park located off Van Zandt Avenue in the Point section

of Newport. The project will employ local youth in the creation of the mural in an effort to reduce the

instances of graffiti. The forum will be an open conversation seeking input on the images important to

Newport.

Project Mural is looking for the Point and other Newport communities to help define the different fabric

that makes up Newport. The intent is for artists and concerned community members to be a part of the

discussion and to bring ideas as to how best to represent our community in all of its diversity, not only

through imagery but also with ideas that get to the depth of who we are as a city.
