The Aquidneck Island Planning Commission (AIPC) will convene an open meeting of the Aquidneck Island Energy Alliance on Wednesday, August 25th from 6 to 8 pm at the Middletown Town Hall Council Chambers, Middletown Town Hall, 350 E Main Rd, Middletown, RI 02842.
The Alliance goals include a "coalition for action," among local government officials, non-profit leaders, business owners and community members to address energy conservation and sustainable energy practices across Aquidneck Island. The Alliance effort is funded through generous donations from the van Beuren Charitable Foundation and Prince Charitable Trusts.
Energy efficiency and weatherization strategies for residential, business and municipal buildings will be discussed as well as plans and strategies for renewable energy development. Community outreach, education and engagement strategies on the benefits of conserving energy will also be a main topic of the meeting. A focus on energy awareness for school age children is another important element of the discussion.
