The Elderly Brothers bring their great catalogue of original and classic rock and roll songs to the Jamestown Arts Center on August 26th. The concert will feature some of the many songs band member, Bill Thomas, wrote for the seminal children’s television show, Captain Kangaroo. Guest singers who performed on the original recordings, Jamestowner Marilyn Thomas and South County’s Leland Brown, will join the Elderlys for an afternoon family concert from 5 to 6 PM. This free, all ages community concert is presented by the Jamestown Community Theatre. Much thanks goes to Mary Wright of the JCT for her help in executing this event.
Parents - some who may have been featured in Thomas’s videos on the CBS show - will be able to introduce their own children to songs so many Newport county residents will recall fondly; songs like, Rainy Day Zoo, Time Can Be So Magic, Best Time of the Day, Mother and I, Sunshine Friend, Good to See You Again and Hard to Say Goodbye.
The Elderly Brothers are, Bill Thomas, Jack Casey, Harry Spring, Mark Gorman and Ed Ledwith. Time Can Be So Magic CD’s with the songs from Captain Kangaroo will be available for purchase.
