The skies above Newport, Rhode Island's, "Brenton Point State Park" along Ocean Drive will be filled with a mosaic of colorful kites of all shapes and sizes, July 9th and 10th, 2011 10 am until 5 pm daily. The annual event will feature a free "candy drop" for kids, a public "Rokakku" fighter kite battle, raffles for kite prizes, and demonstrations of various kites, including synchronized kite ballets choreographed to music. Kite Clubs from across the Northeast will converge in Newport for an unprecedented show of color and skill in all phases of kite flying imaginable. Admission is free; parking is available.
