Fall River Woman Falls into $100,000 Grand at Newport Grand

Newport Grand lived up to its name one hundred thousand times over for one Fall River woman recently. And it wasn’t because she played the slots.

The Rhode Island Lottery Commission said Monday that the woman, who asked not to be identified, won $100,000 after buying a “Rhode Island Red” instant ticket at Newport Grand.

The woman told the commission when she came to claim the prize at their headquarters in Cranston that she was with her husband to celebrate his birthday when she bought the ticket.

The money will be used to pay bills and shared equally with her children, she said.
