Health Department Closes King's Park Beach
The beach will remain closed to swimming until bacteria levels return to normal.
The state Department of Health recommends the closure of in Newport and Third Beach in Middletown to swimming due to high bacteria counts.
Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the Health department's laboratory or a state certified laboratory. Beach closings are common after heavy rains like that which fell this morning.
