High Winds, Snow Showers Blow Across RI

A high wind advisory is in place for the entire state until 7 p.m.

A high wind advisory is in place until 7 p.m. Monday as potentially damaging winds sweep across the state. Intermittent snow showers have been occurring as well, and could continue throughout the morning and early afternoon.

The National Weather Service says peak wind gusts will reach 55 miles per hour, creating the potential for power outages across the region. National Grid has issued a warning to customers, encouraging power outages preparedness.

Outages can be reported on National Grid's website or by calling 1-800-465-1212. Active outages can be tracked using the company's interactive power outage map.

Skies are expected to clear by Monday evening, with strong breezes continuing into Tuesday after the high wind advisory expires.
