How Much Money Buys Happiness? Time Magazine Says $75,000 A Year In New England
New Englanders are supposed to be thrifty. And it takes less money to make them happy compared to people in New York City, per Gallup.

CRANSTON, RI — According to Time Magazine, money can buy happiness, but how much money it takes depends on where you live. The findings are in some new research by Gallup Sharecare. According to the magazine, the researchers honed in on 12 metropolitan areas and tried to find out how their income affected their feeling of well being.
Nationwide, it takes the most money to make people happy in the Great Lakes. They need at least $120,000 a year. In New York City, the figure is $105,000. By comparison, contentment in the Central U.S. costs $54,000. In New England, the price is $75,000 annually. The study points out the extra dollars in the Great Lakes don't make people happier than their counterparts in Boston, though.
