Last Chance: Voter Registration Deadline for Democratic Primary Aug. 12

The City of Newport's Canvassing Authority has announced the deadline to register for the Sept. 12, 2012, Democratic Primary will be Sunday, Aug. 12.

Voter registrations will be accepted by canvassing staff at the Community Room 150 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Absentee ballots can be picked up at the the Canvassing Office at City Hall or on the City's website.

Registration Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship
• Legal Rhode Island resident
• 18 years old on or before the election
• Re-registration is required if you change your name or address
