NEWPORT, RI — Sunday's weather lived up to expectations. The National Weather Service called for sunshine and warm temperatures around 80 degrees. Cooler temperatures in the 70s are forecast for Monday.

Also, the weather service in Taunton, Mass., has introduced a new feature. The surf zone forecast shows beach the water temperatures and the wave heights. The color coding also indicates the risk for rip tides, with green meaning a low risk, yellow meaning moderate, and red meaning high risk.
