Parking Bans In Place Across Rhode Island Amid Winter Storm

RHODE ISLAND — Parking bans have been declared in cities and towns across Rhode Island as a winter storm dumps snow and rain across most of New England. As of Sunday evening, no school delays or cancellations have been announced for Monday.

So far, there are parking bans in seven cities and towns across Rhode Island.

  • Burrillville: 7 p.m. until further notice
  • Cumberland: 6 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday
  • Hopkinton: 4 p.m. Sunday to 12 p.m. Monday
  • Lincoln: 8 p.m. Sunday until 8 a.m. Monday
  • Smithfield: 12 p.m. Sunday until Tuesday
  • Tiverton: 5 p.m. Sunday until further notice
  • West Greenwich: 6 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday

The snow will change fully over to rain overnight, leading to slick conditions overnight. On Monday, expect more rain, changing back over to snow in the evening hours ahead of more nasty weather on Tuesday. Here's a look at the forecast for the next few days from the National Weather Service.

Sunday Night
Rain and sleet, becoming all rain after 1 a.m. Low around 33. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total nighttime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday
Rain. High near 40. Breezy, with a north wind 18 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday Night
Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 1 a.m. Low around 30. Blustery, with a north wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday
A chance of snow before 3 p.m., then a slight chance of rain between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a chance of rain and flurries after 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind 6 to 11 mph.
