Prescription Drug Take Back Set for April 29

The Newport police will collect unwanted prescription drugs at three locations on April 29.

NEWPORT, RI—Police are collecting prescription drugs. Hoping to cut down on prescription drug abuse and ultimately medical emergencies, they are urging the community to move the pills out of the home. Because these medicines can't safely be discarded in the trash or thrown down the drain, the police are organizing a drive on April 29 to collect them.

Only pills or patches are accepted. The service is free and anonymous. No questions asked.

Bring your pills for disposal to one of the designated three locations for pickup:

The Newport Police Department, 120 Broadway, Newport;
The Ahepa House, 87 Girard Ave., Newport; or
Donovan Manor, 19 Chapel St., Newport.
