Rain Forces Reschedule Of Two Newport Daffodil Days Events
The Driving Miss Daffodil parade and ballet performance at Bellevue House were rescheduled due to inclement weather.
NEWPORT, RI — Two popular Newport Daffodil Days festival have been rescheduled due to rain. The Driving Miss Daffodil Parade and "Dances With Daffodils" ballet performance will be held in late April and early May following several days of rain during the week-long festival.
The first rescheduled event will be held on April 27 at Bellevue House, where guests can enjoy daffodil-filled gardens, live music, a cash bar and a "Dances Among The Daffodils," a performance by the Rhode Island Ballet Theater. The event will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 304 Bellevue Ave. There is a $5 suggested donation for admission and is free with a daffy pin.
The annual Driving Miss Daffodil classic car parade, sponsored by the Audrain Automobile Museum, will be held on Saturday, May 4. The parade, which will begin at Easton's beach at 8 a.m., will wind through the streets of historic Newport, including Bellevue Avenue and Ocean Drive, ending at Fort Adams State Park, where guests can get a close-up look at the cars and, of course, enjoy more daffodils. The public is encouraged to come see the cars at the beach before the parade begins and at the fort after it ends, free of charge.

Vehicles can be entered in the parade for $25 each. parade participants will gather at the beach between 7 and 8 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the "daffiest" decorated cars in the parade.
