Tuesday morning's mild temperatures aren't going to stick around for long. Forecasters are still expecting some brief snow this afternoon and evening before a strong cold front plunges the region into a deep freeze overnight into Wednesday.

Rain is on the way, changing over to "to a very brief period of snow," the National Weather Service said. Rhode Islanders can expect snow between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., with little to no accumulation across the state.

"A few slick spots possible, but overall impact looks low," NWS said.
