Swanhurst Chorus Names New Music Director in Time for Rehearsals

NEWPORT, RI—A Newport native will become the new music director at Swanhurst Chorus, the chorus's spokeswoman, Lisa Babbitt, announced last week.

Edwin Milham, who began singing with the choir at age 7, went on to earn graduate degrees from the University of Massachusetts and the New England Conservatory of Music. He studied classical vocal performance, conducting and jazz band and currently is a faculty member at Bridgewater State University and UMass Dartmouth.

He arrives in time for Wednesday night rehearsals, starting on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at St Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road in Middletown (opposite Staples).

All present and past members of the Chorus are invited to attend.

Also, newcomers will find the first three rehearsals are by Open Registration, so anyone curious about joining the group, can try it out before committing. New singers and students are welcome.
