Tax Officials Will Start Talks to Collect Rep's Parent's Debt

Tax officials say they will take court action in Florida, if necessary, to collect $1.3 million in back taxes.

Tax officials will begin talks and seek court action in Florida, if necessary, to collect $1.3 million in taxes owed by former Portsmouth couple William and Marielle Reilly, reports The Providence Journal Monday. 

Last week, the owed from the late 1990s. The Reillys are the parents of state Rep. Dan Reilly (Republican- District 72, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth). 

According to court records, in August 2008, the tax administrator filed a complaint in the Providence County Superior Court alleging that defendants, William and Marielle Reilly, had failed to pay Rhode Island income taxes for tax years 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999.

The Reillys, according to court records, deny that they owe any personal income taxes for the assessed years.
