haloumi  -n :: a salty white sheep or cow’s milk cheese from Greece or Turkey.
Typically we see haloumi baked, pan-fried or grilled, this mysterious white cheese has been popping up all over the place recently- making a statement on menus nationwide. We had the pleasure of tasting it this summer at the opening night of the Flower Show at Rosecliff a couple of weeks ago and haven’t stopped thinking about it since. This delectable cheese has the appearance of fresh mozzarella but the consistency of string cheese and tastes amazing. Marinated and grilled, placed on a toasted baguette with a dollop of fig jam and you’ve got yourself a scrumptious snack.  Or, grille it and serve with watermelon and arugula as seen on one of our favorite blogs, Camille Styles. We encourage you to try this yummy stuff if you get the chance, you won’t be sorry!
