All-Star Baseball: Warwick National Hammers North Kingstown

Warwick defeats NK 13-1 in four innings.

A dominant pitching effort by Warwick National lifted them to a 13-1 victory in four innings against North Kingstown in the U-12 All-Star baseball game Sunday afternoon at Signal Rock.

In the top of the second, Warwick's squad scored two runs as Zack Drake drove in a run with a double to right center and a run scored on Darren Grant's ground ball to second.

Sean Creamer, Warwick's starting pitcher, was flawless through two and one third innings pitched. He retired all seven batters by way of the strikeout, did not allow a hit and only gave up one walk.

Elijah Brown came into the game and struck out the final two batters in the third inning. The no-hitter ended when Johnathan Cote singled to right field. All nine outs recorded by Warwick's staff were on K's.

"We have about three guys who we consider to be aces," Warwick National head coach Jay Brown said.

Their offense blew the game open in the third inning, when they scored 11 runs, extending the lead to 13-0. Warwick's Bobby Nelson and Sean Blanohard each had three hits in the game, and Nelson had 2 RBI's.

Nelson, Blanohard, Elijah Brown and Eric Howell each had two hits in the third inning, as they produced seven of the 11 runs in the big inning.

"We have a deep lineup and from spots one through seven [in the batting order], they’ve been hitting home runs all year," Brown added.

Caleb King scored North Kingstown's lone run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a double steal. They only had two hits in the entire game. North Kingstown will look for a win tonight at 5:30 at Signal Rock to avoid elimination in the tournament.
