Altercation at Playground Leads to Three Arrests

A disturbance at a local playground left three in handcuffs.

A woman trying to save her companion from arrest wound up joining him in custody.

Daquia Aldimmia Hall, 18, of 8 State St. Apt. B, was arrested Oct. 1 at 11 p.m. on charges of assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly trying to rescue a 17-year-old man being charged with underage possession of alcohol and obstruction of a police officer at the Devils Foot Road playground.

As the young man was placed in the police cruiser, Hall reportedly began to “rapidly” walk toward officer and yell “I don’t think so. You’re not taking him.” When an officer told her to move back, Hall allegedly put her hand in the officer’s face and yelled, “Don’t disrespect me, [expletive].” To avoid being struck, the officer grabbed her arm and placed it behind her back, according to reports. Another officer was needed to calm Hall down and take her into custody.

She was released on $2,000 personal recognizance.

Shortly after, Jonathan Patrick Toolin, 19, of 20 King Phillip Cir. Apt. LKA, was arrested Oct. 2 at 2:15 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct. Toolin allegedly approached a man and accused him of calling the police on his friends, pointing at him while yelling “cop caller.” According to a witness, Toolin was “drunk out of his mind” and began swinging his arms in an attempt to punch the man, but ended up punching the witness in the shoulder.

The witness then allegedly punched Toolin in the face to defend himself, knocking Toolin's hat off his head. According to reports, Toolin then began to scream that he was going to call the police because someone stole his hat.

After police found Toolin down the road, he told them the man “sucker punched” him and knocked his hat off. Later, the alleged victim asked police to drop the assault charge because he only wanted to teach Toolin the lesson that there are consequences for his actions.
