North Kingstown resident, Eileen Pekar, was honored at the GSRI NK/J Service Unit higher awards ceremony on May 19th for 10+ years of service to Girl Scouting. Eileen has been a leader for Girl Scout Troop 852 since 2002, staying with the troop from Brownies through Ambassadors. Mrs. Pekar has been an active leader for the scouts. She continues to participate in regular meetings, camping activities, cookie sales, fundraisers, ceremonies, and leads the troop in badge work and journeys. She joins the troop on local field trips and workshops; she has traveled with the troop to Mystic CT, Boston MA, Washington DC, and Bermuda. Eileen has mentored many of the scouts in their attainment of the Girl Scout higher awards of Bronze, Silver and Gold. Eileen is a role model and an adult advisor for the scouts. Her enthusiasm, caring and positive attitude has been a foundation for her scouts as they have grown. All of North Kingstown/ Jamestown service unit and Troop 852 say “Thank You”!
