Arrest Made in Attempted Bank Robbery

North Kingstown police have arrested one suspect and are seeking another in connection with .

Frederick Burdick, 25, of 157 Weeden Drive, was arrested Tuesday after fingerprints lifted from the victim's car were matched to Burdick. Burdick was arraigned in Third District Court in Warwick Tuesday and is being held without bail. He faces charges of first degree robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime, possession of arms by a convict in a crime of violence and assault with intent to commit a felony.

Police have issued a warrant for Nicole Petrarca, 25, of 65 Larch Drive in Coventry, who allegedly assisted Burdick in the robbery. According to North Kingstown detectives, Petrarca drove the getaway car in the Jan. 10 attempted robbery. She is being charged with first degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

On Jan. 10, Burdick allegedly attempted to rob a woman in her 40s as she made a night deposit at the bank's drive-thru around 8 p.m. According to police, Burdick (wearing all black and donning a mask) threatened the woman and pistol-whipped her. The victim starting screaming and beeping her horn, catching the attention of a father and son who were walking their dog nearby. Burdick then fled the scene with the woman's keys and cell phone in what witnesses described as a white sedan with some sort of bike rack on the back of it.

This isn't the first run-in with the law for Burdick and Petrarca. According to theRhode Island Judiciary's website, has seen charges from various police departments since he turned 18 in 2004. Over the past seven years, Burdick has been charged with offenses including vandalism, domestic assault, larceny, disorderly conduct, eluding police, obstructing an officer in the line of duty, operating a stolen vehicle and drunken driving. Petrarca's two more recent charges include a shoplifting charge and obstructing an officer.
