UPDATED: Barrington Dad Reported Missing in NK
Ted Crane of Barrington was last seen Thursday morning after his car broke down in North Kingstown, according to friends and neighbors.
A Barrington father of three children remains missing since yesterday morning, June 21, after his car reportedly broke down in North Kingstown, according to friends and neighbors.
Ted Crane, of 20 Clarke Rd. in Barrington, reportedly was last seen by a North Kingstown highway maintenance person a mid-morning Thursday, according to the friends. The time of that sighting was initially reported as around 9:37 a.m.
However, another sighting of Crane's green Mini-Cooper by a family friend reportedly took place at 9:40 a.m. near T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.

He is well-known in Barrington for that car, the friend said. Maybe other people saw it and they can contact the police, the friend said.
The car's hood was up and Crane appeared to be checking the oil, according to the friend who spotted the car in Warwick.

Crane's car, therefore, is believed to have broken down on Route 403 in North Kingstown at least 20 minutes later, when he contacted his wife, Peg. He apparently managed to drive to within about two miles of where he works in North Kingstown when his car finally failed.
Reportedly, Crane left his cell phone in the car and he did not contact his family a second time.
Crane reportedly was wearing a rust-colored shirt and tan khaki pants, according to a friend.
North Kingstown police reportedly are using dogs to search the area. His wife and another close family friend are helping police in the search, a neighbor said.
