Children Safe After Car Collides with School Bus
Bus 16 from Fishing Cove Elementary was struck on Shore Acres Drive.
A Honda CRV, apparently travelling on the wrong side of the road, collided with a school bus returning children from Fishing Cove Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.
The bus was not moving at the time of the accident. The driver had stopped to deal with an alarm — likely one indicating a door had been opened — that several children who were on the bus said had been accidentally set off. No injuries were reported, according to an officer at the scene.
Several North Kingstown police officers and ambulances responded to the accident at the intersection of Shore Acres and Seabreeze Drives. They were soon joined by parents, who said they had received calls reporting the accident.

After the children left with their parents, a tow truck arrived to remove the Honda. The bus appeared to be drivable.
Officers at the scene said they were still investigating and would have more details later.
