Coventry Man Dies in North Kingstown Crash

Police said the 30-year-old lost control of his vehicle on Ten Rod Road on Sunday.

A 30-year-old Coventry man has died after a single-vehicle crash on Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown on Sunday.

Police said Kyle Esteves was driving a 1997 Ford pickup with a 23-year-old passenger, also of Coventry, when he lost control, left the road and struck a utility pole in the area of 575 Tower Hill Road at around 10:36 p.m.

Esteves was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the North Kingstown Fire Department.

The passenger, identified by police as Myles Fernberg, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for serious injuries.

The crash is being investigated by North Kingstown detectives and the accident reconstruction unit.

Police said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Esteves, an electrician, grew up in East Greenwich and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Friends of the family were offering love and support after learning about the crash.

Those who knew him said Esteves was a hard worker and an honest and decent man. Along with his siblings, he leaves behind many who looked up to him as a big brother.

Funeral arrangements are to be announced.
