Crash Claims Life of North Kingstown 3-Year-Old
Two adults were critically injured and a second child, 5, was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The community is mourning the death of a 3-year-old in a devastating crash in Warwick Monday night.
The child, identified by the Rhode Island State Police as Adonis Clark, 3, was unable to be freed after the car he was riding in rolled over onto the center median of Interstate 95 south just before Route 4 and caught fire.
The unspeakable tragedy also critically injured the toddler’s sister, Savannah Clark, 5; their mother, Lindsey Clark, 25, and Robert Souza, 45, all of North Kingstown. They were able to get out of the car with help from good Samaritans who had stopped to help after the crash at around 9 p.m.

The accident investigation shows that Souza, who was driving a PT Cruiser, was in the right lane when he veered left across all lanes of travel and entered the median. The car then struck a tree, rolled over and became engulfed in flames.
The Samaritans were able to extricate all but Adonis Clark and first responders tried desperately to free the child, but “the first arriving Trooper and a good Samaritan were driven back by the severe heat, smoke and flames,” Rhode Island State Police Superintendent Col. Steven G. O’Donnell said in a statement.

The child was in a car seat at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both adults were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries and remain in critical condition at this time. Savannah Clark was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The first responding trooper suffered minor cuts and burns and was treated briefly at Kent County Hospital.
Souza reportedly was driving with a suspended license.
The accident remains under investigation and anyone who saw the accident is asked to contact the Wickford Barracks at 401-444-1064.
