The North Kingstown Arts Council and Tim Cranston’s Swamptown Enterprises are scheduled to hold the NK & the Sea, A Gathering of Soundrels, event today, August 25, 2012 from 2-4:30 p.m. at Smith's Castle.
The event will feature music from groups that specialize in ancient sea shanties and a return engagement by the fabled pirate cabal “The Free Men of the Sea."
The event will be emceed by local historian Tim Cranston, playing the role of RI Colonial Governor Samuel Cranston, who had a connection to the pirate/privateering economy of the Narragansett Bay in the late 1600s – early 1700s.
