Former NKPD Lieutenant Passes Away
Retired Lt. Anthony Roberto passed away this past Sunday.

The flag outside the has been at half-mast this week as the department mourns the loss of a former member.
Retired Lt. Anthony Roberto passed away Sunday, July 1 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 63 years old. Originally from Providence, Robreto was the son of Anthony Roberto of Apache Junction, AZ and the late Beverly (Chapin) Roberto.
A 30-year veteran of the North Kingstown Police Department, Roberto retired at the rank of lieutenant. Additionally, he was an EVOC instructor for the RIMPTA and was a member of the Emergency Response Team. Roberto was also a member of the Commissioned Police Officers Association of RI and the FOP Lodge 33. Following his retirement from the NKPD, Roberto worked security at Newport Grand for 10 years.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Virginia C. "Ginny" (Brown) Roberto. He also leaves behind two daughters (Kelly Hart of West Greenwich and Christine Moretti of Westerly), his sister (Sharon L. Roberto of Arizona), a nephew (Scott Phillips of Warwick) and two grandchildren (Jacob and Emerson Hart).
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m. at . A burial at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown will follow. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
