Girl Scouts of RI recognizes NK volunteers!

At the Thinking Day event for the North Kingstown /Jamestown unit of Girl Scouts of Rhode Island (GSRI), North Kingstown resident Karen King received the prestigious “Thanks Badge” award. The “Thanks Badge” is a major national Girl Scouting award. Karen’s activities recognized by this award include: representing GSRI at a national training course on the GSUSA K-5 membership initiative, serving on the Volunteer Advisory Board with GSRI, serving as a trainer for other leaders/ volunteers, and being the Service Unit Manager of the all the Girl Scout troops in North Kingstown and Jamestown. 

Jennifer DeBlois, leader of NK/J Troops 561 and 621 received the GSRI Council Volunteer of Excellence award. This national award recognizes those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Under Jennifer’s leadership and troop structure, she provides the older girls with the opportunity to obtain leadership skills, active participation and assume responsibilities.
